Free-Scoring Osimhen Nets Goal Number 8 To Power Charleroi To Win Over Gent

Former World Youth Championship goal king Victor Osimhen scored his 8th league goal of the season for his loan side Charleroi to help them to a 2-0 win over Gent in the Belgium top flight league.

Osimhen scored the opener for his team with four minutes left to play in the game before Massimo Bruno put the game beyond the visiting Gent with a goal four minutes into time added on.

Bar Osimhen, two other Nigerians in Anderson Esiti and Taiwo Awoniyi were on parade for Gent with Esiti starting the game while Awoniyi was subbed on in the second half.

The goal increased the tally of the Nigeria international to 9 goals in 15 games in all competitions, a form which has earned him a recall to the senior national team of Nigeria with coach Gernot Rohr handing him a start in the 0-0 friendly draw against Uganda.

On a season long loan deal from German side Wolfsburg, he has emerged as a prime target for Dutch league giants Ajax although Charleroi still have the option of first refusal when it comes to buying him permanently after the expiration of his loan deal.
