Senegal have emerged as the champions of the 2018 WAFU U20 Championship after a comprehensive 2-0 win over the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in the final played today.
Nigeria struggled to cope with the pace, power and skills of the Senegalese side who were very impressive on and off the ball in the early exchanges but Nigeria defended really well to keep them at bay.
Two minutes after the half time break Senegal broke the deadlock when the lively Sagna Amadou pierce through the Nigerian defence for the first goal of the game. A goal truly deserved base on his performance in the game.
In the 69th minute Youssouph Badji doubled the lead for the Senegalese with the second goal for his team and in the process increased his goal tally in the tournament to four, which makes him the top scorer of the tournament.
The Nigerian team were fortunate not to concede more goals as Senegal took the game to them even when they were leading the tie comfortably and despite Nigeria making two substitutions, Senegal were deservedly crowned the winners of the tournament at the final whistle of the game.
