After several failed attempt to book an interview with the director of GBS Football Academy, Owngoalnigeria.com finally tracked down the much talked about brain behind the success of the Jos based side Ahmed Ibrahim popularly known as coach Bros.
GBS Academy has produced over 100 players who are now professional players and as many as four of them have already played for the senior national team of Nigeria with Samuel Kalu of Bordeaux the latest after the likes of Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon and Kingsley Madu.
The duo of Abdul Zubairu of AS Trencin and Hilary Gong of Vitesse Arnhem are next in line to dorn the national team jersey of Nigeria following their impressive showing for their respective teams in league and cup games.
For a man who has achieved so much in grooming of players, one would expect him to be very boastful but the Plateau United technical director is by far one of the very few humble Nigerians who have made a fortune from grooming players.
At the moment he has seven players who are set to move in January and when asked about the success of his Academy, the soft speaking coach said it’s all about passion and the determination to see young players succeed in their chosen career.
” It’s nothing special to be honest, it’s all about passion for what you are doing and blessing from God. I work really hard to get the latest tips on coaching and style of play and even though I have coaches in my team, I still take trainings”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Ahmed Musa wasn’t the first player I groomed but he announced me to the world. Hopefully I will produce many more like him in the coming future “, he concluded.
