Nigeria U20 wing forward Abubakar Ibrahim Babawo has rejected a move to a top division team in Norway after his exploits for Nigeria at the recently concluded WAFU U20 Championship in Togo, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Babawo was one of the stars of the Nigerian team that lost 0-2 to Senegal in the final and despite playing as a right full back, the 18 year old made the list for the Best XI players of the championship.
Alongside Effiom Maxwell Michael who also made the team of the tournament, a bid to join a top Norwegian side in January was tabled but while Maxwell is yet to decide, Babawo has rejected the planned move.
Nicknamed the ‘New Ahmed Musa ‘, we reliably gathered that his decision to snub the move is due to interest from clubs in the Netherlands and there is also a proposal for the forward from an agency in Belgium wanting to offer him to teams.
His focus is now on helping Plateau United do well when the Nigeria league resumes and also on the Africa U20 Cup of Nations early next year before accepting a move.
Picked by GBS Academy proprietor who is also the Technical Director of Plateau United Ahmed Ibrahim popularly known as coach Bros who discovered Ahmed Musa he is widely regarded as one of the best player in the Nigerian domestic league.
