The coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun has stuck to the majority of players who prosecuted the qualifiers for the Africa U20 Championship in his provisional list for the tournament in Niger Republic.
Aigbogun will make his list public tomorrow with the players expected to be in camp on the 6th of January ahead of the naming of the provisional list for the tournament six days after their arrival.
His list of invitees will consist of the bulk of the players who played in the qualifiers and also in the recently concluded WAFU U20 Championship where they lost in the final to Senegal.
Foreign based players who were not part of the team for the qualifiers were not considered for a spot in the team although the coach has his sight set on bolstering his options at left full back and central defence.
Owngoalnigeria.com can authoritatively revealed that the coach decided to leave out the foreign based players who are mostly midfielders and strikers as most of them won’t be released by their clubs, even if they do it will be close to the tournament which won’t help the team cohesion before the tournament.
However he will consider them in his squad for the Suwon Invitational Tournament later this year and pick those who impress in his squad for the World Youth Championship if they qualify for the event.
