One name that was conspicuously missing from the list of players invited by coach of the Nigerian U20 team ahead of the upcoming U20 AFCON is that of newly signed on SonderjyskE striker Nazifi Yahaya.
The striker who recently turned 18 scored a brace for the team in their 4-1 win over Mauritania in the final qualifying match for the tournament which will take place in Niger Republic later this month.
He was however not considered for a spot in the squad released by coach Paul Aigbogun over the weekend for camping and training ahead of the tournament, something which game as a surprise to many.
Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that the decision to leave him out was due to the fact that he was not in Nigeria when the list was compiled as he was in Denmark where he first trained with Brondby before penning a one year deal with SonderjyskE with the option of a further three years.
The coaches are however open to the idea of having him back in the squad if his new club permits as the former Kano Pillars forward is still being viewed as a very important player to the team particularly in attack.
