Plans have been concluded by the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr to call up a new goalkeeper and striker when the Super Eagles take on Seychelles in their final AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie.
The match will take place in March is of no significance as Nigeria have already sealed their spot at next year Africa Cup of Nations after the 1-1 draw against South Africa in Johannesburg last year.
Rohr will use the game to try out new players and among them include a goalkeeper who is expected to provide stiff competition for first choice shot stopper Francis Uzoho and a striker to compliment the effort of Odion Ighalo as point man for the Eagles.
In defence the coach will stick to same players who prosecuted the qualifiers for the tournament and although he is still not satisfied with his options in the midfield, plans to call up new players is not an option for now.
Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that for now it’s only the goalkeeping area and the role of a central striker that appears pressing to the Franco-German coach of the Nigerian team ahead of the 2019 AFCON.
