Junior Ajayi has been handed another chance to impress coach of the Super Eagles according to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.
Ajayi played in a friendly game with the Super Eagles before the World Cup in Russia but didn’t make the cut for the tournament proper, however injury and loss of form of other strikers in the team has opened the door for him to be given a look in.
Ahmed Musa, Isaac Success and Odion Ighalo are all doubtful for the Super Eagles next engagements in March and Ajayi who has scored twice in four league games in the Egyptian Premier League, and three times from six games in the CAF Champions League is in the running to be named in the squad for the games.
Coach Gernot Rohr has already revealed he will play fringe players in the game against Seychelles with Nigeria already through to the Africa Cup of Nations which will now hold in Egypt , Nigeria’s opponent in a friendly game two days after the Seychelles game next month.
Rohr has not hidden his admiration for 23 year old Ajayi and the chance for the forward to push for a spot in the team ahead of the naming of the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations is part of his plans to watch him at close quarters.
