Nigeria will prosecute their pre AFCON 2019 friendly game against Egypt without the services of their captain Ahmed Musa who has returned back to his base in Saudi Arabia, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The Al-Nassr forward was excused from the game by coach Gernot Rohr owing to an agreement agreed with the player before the game against Seychelles that he will be allowed to leave after the game.
Musa played the entire duration of the game against Seychelles on Friday which Nigeria won 3-1 courtesy of goals from Odion Ighalo, Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon.
He left the camp of the team in Asaba around 12pm on Sunday to connect a flight back to his base in Saudi Arabia where he is expected to immediately resume training with Al-Nassr.
William Troost-Ekong will wear the captain armband when Nigeria play against Egypt on Tuesday due to the absence of main captain Mikel Obi and his deputy Ahmed Musa.
