One of the star players for the Nigeria U23 team in the 4-0 win over Libya, Kelechi Nwakali has given his opinion on his performance in the game, where he set up the third goal for Victor Osimhen with a well weighted pass.
Nwakali came close to scoring with a freekick which came off the woodwork and his combination with captain Azubuike Okechukwu in midfield gave the Nigerian gave Libya no time on the ball.
On loan from Arsenal to the B team of Portuguese side FC Porto, Nwakali said the result of the first leg which they lost 0-2 gave them a serious push in the return leg as they need to put a smile on the face of Nigerians.
” Most of us didn’t do well in the first game which we lost 0-2. Ahead of this game it was like we all agreed to play to our potential and that helped us in the game. We dominated the game the way we wanted to “, Nwakali said.
” Personally I needed to put up a show to repay the faith Nigerians have in me and this team. The idea is to secure qualification for the Olympic. Something I believe we can achieve if we continue to play this way or even better. Kudos must also go to the coach”.
