Rohr Leaves Super Eagles Door Open For Nigeria U17 Players, Eager To Emulate Westerhoff


Gernot Rohr says he want to emulate former Super Eagles Coach Clemence Westerhoff by giving players of the Nigeria U17 team the chance to stake a claim in the senior national team of Nigeria, reports.


Rohr who visited the Nigeria U17 team in their camp in Abuja before their departure to the Africa U17 Cup of Nations said he will keep his watch on top talents in the Nigerian team at the championship in Tanzania ‎starting from the 14th of April.

Speaking in a video made available to the editorial team of, the Franco-German coach said keeping an eye on the U17 is key because they are the future and just like Westerhoff he could give them a chance with the team if he sees any exceptional talent in their fold.

” We must not forget the U17s. They are the future and just like my predecessor Westerhoff who I heard picked Victor Ikpeba as a 17 year old, I will also do the same if I see any player who can play for us at this level. So I will be watching them closely if not for now then maybe in the future even if am not here”, Rohr said.
