Coach of the U17 team of Nigeria Manu Garba has explained why his strikers are not scoring goals at the ongoing Africa U17 Cup of Nations despite the high amount of chance they have created in their opening two games of the tournament.
Although they have scored six goals in their opening games and picked up wins against Tanzania (5-4) and Angola (1-0) to move top of their group, they could have scored up to ten goals if they convert half of the chances they create.
Their poor conversation rate has no doubt dominated discussions and coach of the team Garba took out time to explain why the team isn’t scoring from the loads of chances they’ve created so far.
The coach while expressing his frustrations at the missed chances however insist that the strikers are coming to terms with playing in a tournament like the U17 as most of them are playing at such level for the first time hence the nerves.
” I need to congratulate my players. Despite of many mistakes today but I congratulate them for the qualification. You know most of them this is their first International tournament but I am happy they did it well. Both teams created chances today but the score is the only difference”, Manu Garba said after the game.
