Captain of the Nigeria U20 team Ikouwem Udoh Utin won’t be joining Israeli side Maccabi Haifa following a breakdown in talks over his proposed move from Enyimba, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Udoh was offered the chance of joining the team after a training camp where he will be assessed before a decision will be taken on his signing but it appears the deal has gone up in smoke.
From our ends, we gathered the deal is off and he won’t be joining the former team of ex Super Eagles goal king Yakubu Aiyegbeni but no concrete reason has been given for the collapse of the deal.
It means Swedish side Malmo are now back in pole position to sign the 19 year old who made his senior international bow for Nigeria in the recent 1-0 friendly win against Egypt and also played for the B team at the African Nations Championship last year.
Enyimba are willing to let the left full back leave but they are keen on keeping him till after the U20 World Youth Championship, where he is expected to captain Nigeria who are grouped alongside Qatar, Ukraine and the United States of America in group D.
