Super Eagles and Levante of Spain forward Moses Simon says the Super Eagles of Nigeria will compete at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt with the aim of lifting the trophy.
Nigeria is viewed by many as one of the team with an outside chance of winning the tournament aside Morocco, Egypt, Senegal and Ivory Coast who are the favorite to lift the tournament.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com after Levante’s final game of the season, Simon said the fact that they are not viewed among the favorite will play into their hands when the tournament gets underway.
He insist that the Nigerian team has what it takes to lift the tournament against all odds on the strength of their collective talents as a team and not on any individual player.
” We know we are not one of the favorites just like it was when we were grouped with Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia for the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. We believe in our strength as a team and not on individual players and that will set us apart from the teams that are tag as favorites”, Simon told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” As a team it’s normal for us to respect other teams but we don’t fear any team in Africa because and by the grace of God, we will triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt “.
