Oremade Wins Battle For Nigeria U20 First Choice Goalkeeper, Italian-Nigerian Zaccala Could Play

Olawale Oremade has retained his position as the first choice goalkeeper of the Nigeria U20 team ahead of the start of the World Youth Championship in Poland, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Oremade displaced Daetan Ogundare at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations after impressing at the WAFU U20 Championship and he was subsequently promoted to the U23s and played in the first leg of their U23 Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Libya which they lost 0-2.

He returned to the U20s for training ahead of the U20 World Youth Championship and despite the effort of ex number one Ogundare he still retained his spot as the number one goalkeeper.

Ogundare will deputise for him while Italian-Nigerian goalkeeper Jonathan Zaccala will play the role of third choice although the coaches plan to give him game time during the tournament, most likely in games where they have done enough to pick maximum points.

Owngoalnigeria.com also gathered that Oremade who was at a time 4th choice behind Akpan Udoh, Daetan Ogundare and Matthew Yakubu is among the players coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr will be putting a close eye on during the tournament.
