Portuguese giants FC Porto will ask clubs interested in Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem to pay £15m despite the 22 year old having just a year to run on his deal at the club, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Awaziem failed to nail a permanent spot in the starting line up of Porto at the start of the season despite impressing while on loan to French Ligue 1 side Nantes the previous season.
In January he was sent on another loan to Turkish side Rizespor where he played a key role in the club moving from battling relegation to contesting for a spot in the Europa League after embarking on a run of nine games without defeat.
His performance earned him a recall to the senior national team of Nigeria but he had to drop a level to the U23s to help them prosecute the second leg of their U23 Cup of Nations Qualifiers which they won 4-2 on aggregate after losing the first leg 0-2.
Porto wanted him to sign a contract extension before leaving on loan in January but the deal didn’t happen and now with a year to run on his deal and Awaziem also in with a chance of playing for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, the club have set his price tag at £15m.
