Former Super Eagles wing forward Tijjani Babangida says Levante forward Moses Simon gives balance to the Super Eagles of Nigeria when he plays, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Simon is listed by coach Gernot Rohr in his 25 man provisional list for the 2019 AFCON after missing the World Cup in Russia due to the harmstring injury he picked up three weeks before the start of the World Cup.
Rohr has in previous games used Samuel Kalu and captain Ahmed Musa on the flanks with Samuel Chukwueze waiting on the wings after his brilliant breakthrough season with Villarreal, many are of the opinion that Simon have dropped down the pecking order in the Nigeria national team.
A dashing winger in his playing days, Babangida disagree with the notion insisting that the 23 year old is more solid tactically hence gives the Super Eagles balance whenever he plays for the senior national team of Nigeria.
” Moses Simon has to go the Nations Cup because he gives the Super Eagles some level of balance when he plays. He’s a winger who contributes defensively and also swing in crosses more than any player in the team at the moment “, Babangida told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” The team is balanced when he plays and we saw it during the qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia. It’s a pity that he missed the tournament, hopefully he will make amends in Egypt and show his worth”.
