Super Eagles World Cup 2018 defender Bryan Idowu was crowned Russian Cup champions with Lokomotiv Moscow following their 1-0 win over Ural in the final of the Russian Cup.
The 27 year old was on for the entire duration of the final and put in a commanding shift to help his team emerged as champions by hanging on to the lone goal they scored in the 27th minute.
Idowu was placed on standby in the 25 man provisional list of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as he struggled to get games at the club when he first joined them in the summer.
Born in Russia to Nigerian parents, his desire to play for Nigeria came to reality when he made his debut for Nigeria in a World Cup friendly win over Argentina, a game he scored to help Nigeria to a 4-2 win, he subsequently played all of the games at the World Cup.
However the emergence of Jamilu Collins who recently gained promotion to the Bundesliga with Paderborn pushed him down the pecking order in the senior national team of Nigeria as coach Gernot Rohr preferred the 24 year old to him at left back.
