The final 23 man squad of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will be released on Sunday, a day after the the friendly game against Zimbabwe.
Coach of the Nigerian team, Gernot Rohr has been running the rule on 25 players at their camp in Asaba with two players set to be axed to pave way for the 23 players who are going to represent Nigeria in Egypt.
Rohr has however revealed the areas he will drop the two players from the poll of 25 players in camp, specifically mentioning the attack and defence as the areas where he will focus more.
” The job is to pick the best players to represent Nigeria. We’ll be very happy to go with everybody but sadly we can’t, so two players will leave before we depart for the tournament in Egypt, Rohr said.
” We have so many options in attack because the players deserve to be in the team. Now we have to pick the best from them and one has to go and in defence too, the number is okay but also we have to concentrate there when picking the team”.
