Super Eagles of Nigeria yesterday in Egypt had their first training session for the first time since the final squad of players for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations was made public by coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that although the entire squad came to the training pitch, the ones who were involved in the friendly game against Zimbabwe for a period over 60 minutes were later excused from the pitch.

They played table tennis and other indoor games, while players who play for 45 minutes or less were involved in a small game between themselves under the watchful eyes of the technical crew.

Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa trained for the first time in a week by taking part in some light jogging around the pitch as he continue his recovery from the knee injury he picked up during their training camp in Asaba.

Ezenwa’s return will no doubt reignite the battle to be first choice goalkeeper which for now appears to be Daniel Akpeyi and not Francis Uzoho who has struggled to put his club career on track despite keeping goal for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
