The senior national team of Nigeria will switch formations during the tournament base on the opponent they are up against according to coach of the team Gernot Rohr.
Rohr loves to play the 4-3-3 formation which sometimes change into a 4-2-3-1 formation particularly in games where the team want to defend deep.
In training the team have experimented several formations including 4-4-2 but the 3-5-2 formation appears to be their back up plan base on the fact that it has been rehearsed severally during training.
Moses Simon has given the team the option of playing that way with ease as he has impressed mightily as a left wing back, a role he perfected last season at Spanish side Levante and he was particularly impressive playing in the wing back role against Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively in the Laliga.
His ability to play the role with ease means the team can now deploy Samuel Kalu at right wingback with Simon on the other side while Ola Aina and Jamilu Collins will play as the right and left full backs respectively. The back three will no doubt be the trio of Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong.
