Geelec Football Academy teen prospect Najib Yusuf Abdul has been handed the chance to prove himself with the first team of Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The 19 year old was one of the revelations of last season Israel Youth Cup where he scored four goals including one in the semi-finals and also the winner in the final.
His form has prompt the team to open negotiations with his representatives to make his deal permanent and also a chance to prove himself with the first team following the appointment of a new coach.
Najib will resume training with the first team when they start pre season training next week and his performance will be assessed in two weeks before a decision will be taken on his spot in the first team or if he will be loaned out.
According to his Nigerian representative Babawo Mohammed, the decision to let the player remain with Hapoel Tel Aviv was taken in the best interest of the player else he would have considered the option of moving elsewhere as he has offers from teams in and outside Israel.
” We think it’s best for him for him to remain in Israel but on a better salary package and other things. Offers came in for him but we have to put the career of the player first before making decisions that will benefit his management team more “, Babawo told Owngoalnigeria.com.
