Hapoel Be’er Sheva departing midfielder John Ogu is yet to command a starting spot in the Super Eagles team under Gernot Rohr, two years after he was first called up to the team by the Franco-German coach.
Ogu has featured in very few games and most times only gets to play when as many as four players are missing in the midfield or as a part of the defence in a back three as seen in the last friendly game against Senegal.
The left footed ace has however made every single squad released by Rohr since his first call up by the coach and made the list of players for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations ahead of Semi Ajayi who has played in more games than Ogu since after the World Cup in Russia.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that Ogu who didn’t play a single minute at the World Cup in Russia remains one of the favorite of the coach base on how he conducts himself on and off the pitch.
He is the bridge between the senior players and the new players in team and in the dressing room he is one of the most loved and trusted player as he has always maintained a positive attitude which has rubbed off on some young players.
Rohr also likes the fact that he has accepted his role as a squad player without complain and has always impress whenever he is given the chance to play even if he sometimes play in a role he is not accustomed to.
