Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says his team will miss the services of Benfica defender Tyrone Ebuehi at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which begins tomorrow.
Ebuehi suffered a cruciate ligament injury which ruled him out of the season following his transfer from ADO Den Haag to Benfica after impressing for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He didn’t recover on time, hence missed out on a spot in the team and according to Rohr, the right full back and defensive midfielder Ogenyi Onazi who is also not in the squad due to injury while on duty with his Turkish side Trabzonspor.
” Ebuehi has been with us for two years and at the World Cup he really showed his maturity but he is not here, so the chance to continue with us is lost. We’ll miss him but we are confident of the players in his position. Onazi is a very influential member of our team and we would have love to have him here with us “, Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com
