As many as five players who started for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their last competitive game have been dropped from the starting lineup for today’s game against Burundi, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
In the lineup made known to the players earlier, Bordeaux forward Samuel Kalu who slumped on the pitch misses out despite getting the all clear to play following tests conducted on him by the medical team of CAF.
It means Alex Iwobi will now take his position on the flank in the starting lineup with Samuel Chukwueze on the other flank due to the absence of Ahmed Musa who only recently recovered from illness.
Paul Onuachu starts in attack ahead of Odion Ighalo and in defence is where the coach made two heavy decisions by dropping Leon Balogun and Jamilu Collins with the duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina coming in as their replacement.
Aina will play at left full back while Shehu Abdullahi surprisingly got the nod to play as the right back of the team.
