Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria says he will at all times pick the right team to play games at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria won their first game against Burundi.
Speaking on his decision to bench Odion Ighalo who scored the winner for Nigeria after coming off the bench, the Franco-German coach said Paul Onuachu starting was part of the game plan.
He further said the Shanghai Shenhua striker wasn’t fully fit after recovering from illness which made him miss some of their training sessions ahead of the Burundi game.
” Ighalo is our top scorer, we didn’t play him from the start because of the sickness that made him miss some trainings. We played Onuachu from the start with the plan to introduce Ighalo when Burundi are tired and we are happy that it worked out well “, Rohr said.
” At all times and in every game we will pick the best team base on how we want to approach the game. Against Guinea we will see the players available and decide on the best approach “.
