The injured Super Eagles duo of Jamilu Collins and Shehu Abdullahi won’t be in contention to play against Guinea tomorrow, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Abdullahi is suffering from a harmstring injury picked up during the first half of the 1-0 win over Burundi while Collins picked up a groin injury a day to the opening game against Burundi.
Reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team revealed that Abdullahi won’t play any role in the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as he is expected to be out for two weeks.
For Collins he will need a minimum of one week to be ready meaning he still stand a chance of playing for Nigeria at the tournament if they progress to the knock out stages.
Already Rohr has drawn up alternatives for the injured duo with Ola Aina firmly established as the first choice left back in the absence of Collins while Chidozie Awaziem is expected to play as a full back in place of Abdullahi.
Although Kenneth Omeruo is another option at right back, the coaches are however leaning towards allowing Awaziem continue in the full back role as they were pleased with his performance after replacing Abdullahi in the win over Burundi.
