As revealed by Owngoalnigeria.com coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has revealed the lineup of players that will be on show for Nigeria by 5pm when they play their last group game of the ongoing AFCON 2019.

In goal, Rohr handed first choice goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi a rest with Ikechukwu Ezenwa coming on in his place, a move which the coach did to give Ezenwa some game time so he won’t be rusty if there’s a need for him to come in for Akpeyi in the latter stage of the competition.

The coach restored the “Oyibo Wall ” partnership of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun primarily to give Kenneth Omeruo a rest after his impressive showing in the first two games of the tournament. He is expected to return for the knock out stage.

Rohr decided to risk Oghenekaro Etebo in midfield despite the fact that he is one booking away from suspension with captain John Obi Mikel returning in place of Alex Iwobi while John Ogu made the lineup as replacement for Wilfred Ndidi. Ogu will operate as the defensive midfielder of the team.

In attack Ahmed Musa who is a booking away from suspension was also risked by the coach and he will start upfront with Odion Ighalo who keeps his spot as the top striker with Rohr keen on him pushing for the top scorer award.

Samuel Chukwueze was once again snubbed in the starting lineup with Samuel Kalu taking up the position on the right occupied by Moses Simon in the last game against Guinea.
