One of the top performers for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the ongoing AFCON 2019 is newly signed Torino defender Ola Aina, who has so far played in both games won 1-0 by Nigeria against Burundi and Guinea respectively.
Aina spent last season on loan to Torino from Chelsea and after playing in almost of all their games, the club activated the clause of making his deal permanent bringing an end to his long term association with Chelsea.
At the Africa Cup of Nations he was expected to be the right full back of the Nigerian team but the injury to Jamilu Collins made coach Gernot Rohr to draft him to left full back and he hasn’t disappointed in the games played so far.
Speaking on his form, the 23 year old said the time he spent in Italy played a big role in his development and that has impacted on his performance for the Super Eagles at the ongoing AFCON 2019.
” I played in Italy last year and it helped a lot as I played lot of top flight games for Torino. I’m a better player now but I’m still improving on several aspect of my game”, Aina said.
