The Super Eagles of Nigeria plan to approach tomorrow’s AFCON 2019 round of 16 game with caution despite the need to go all out and get the much needed goals that will seal their spot in the quarter finals.
Coach Gernot Rohr is currently facing a selection dilemma ahead of the game particularly on the right side where the trio of Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu and Samuel Chukwueze are in contention to play.
Simon gives the team balance because of his ability to track back and defend, something Rohr feels the team will need against Cameroon to Clinton Njie in check and also frustrate Gaetan Bong from overlapping from his left full back role.
Kalu also have similar characteristics like Simon but he is still some way off his best and it showed in the game against Madagascar where he started his first game in the 0-2 loss to Madagascar.
Samuel Chukwueze comes with a lot of tricks and positive play as he is very good at running at defenders but defensively he can be a liability as he is isn’t the type who tracks back to help the team out.
A decision will be made after today’s training with the left position almost certain to go to Ahmed Musa who will captain the team in the absence of captain John Obi Mikel.
