Gazelec Football Club Ajaccio (GFC Ajaccio) has signed Nigeria U20 left full back Ibrahim Usman who was formerly on the books of the second team of Major League Side Seattle Sounders.
The club were relegated to the 3rd tier of French League last season via the playoffs and in their quest to bounce back to the second division they have unveiled the Nigerian after a successful medical.
Usman left Seattle Sounders 2 after a successful loan spell as his parent owners Eco FC could not reach a deal with the MLS side at the expiration of his one year loan deal. He was immediately called up to the Nigeria U20 team.
He found his route with the Nigerian team blocked by the presence of team captain Ikouwem Udoh Utin and despite his fine performance in training and test games, he was excluded from the team that went to the U20 World Youth Championship in Poland few months ago.
GFC Ajaccio immediately moved for him but they couldn’t conclude his deal due to their involvement in the relegation playoffs in the second division. They eventually got relegated but still went ahead to sign the recently turned 20 year old and he has already resumed training with them.
