Due to recent reports about his future, coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has set a time frame on when he will react to reports saying he will be sacked as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria.
The coach siogned a fresh two year deal before the World Cup in Russia but reports indicate that the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) are exploring ways of terminating his deal when Nigeria’s participation at the tournament comes to an end.
A particular section of the press went as far as saying that the coach will nonetheless get the sack even if Nigeria end up winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game against Cameroon, the Franco-German coach was asked about his future with the team at the match conference ahead of the round of 16 clash and he responded by saying he will speak at the right time.
“I have read rumours about my job in the media, I don’t respond to social media rumours. I’m focused on my job, this is a great opportunity not for me alone but the entire team, the players and staff to be African champions. I’m not bothered about the rumours.
“I have read stories like even if I win the AFCON, I will still be sacked, but my focus is on the team and the tournament. After, the tournament we’ll come back to your question”, he said in response to a question from Tobi Adepoju.
