From all indication Ola Aina looks set to retain his position on the left side of the defence of Nigeria despite the return of Jamilu Collins from a groin injury that kept him out of the group stage of the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Aina was largely expected to man the right fullback spot for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the tournament but the injury to Collins made Rohr to draft him to left full back, a position he has played and excelled in while on club duty with Italian Serie A side Torino.
His performances has forced a rethink on the part of coach Gernot Rohr as he is now likely to retain Aina as left full back against the pacy Cameroonian side than risk Collins who is just returning from injury.
Rohr hinted this much at the pre match conference monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team ahead of tomorrow’s round of 16 game against Cameroon.
“Collins can play now but I don’t know if he will start tomorrow, Mikel is Out & Shehu is training now but won’t be able to play now”, Rohr stated.
