Exclusive – Super Eagles Lineup For Cameroon Game; Balogun Out, Omeruo Returns With Four Others

The lineup of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their round of 16 clash against Cameroon has been revealed by coach of the team Gernot Rohr, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Rohr made five changes to the team that lost 0-2 loss to Madagascar in their final group game of the tournament that saw them drop to second spot in the group.

In the starting lineup the coach returned Daniel Akpeyi in goal with Ikechukwu Ezenwa dropping to the bench same as Leon Balogun whose effort led to the first goal scored by Madagascar with Kenneth Omeruo returning as part of the back four.

Despite the return of regular left full back Jamilu Collins, Ola Aina still kept his spot at left back as exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com yesterday with Chidozie Awaziem also at right back.

In the midfield, team captain John Obi Mikel dropped out of the team due to injury alongside John Ogu with Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi taking their spot as part of a midfield three that has Oghenekaro Etebo as the third.

Ahmed Musa will play from the left side of attack with Moses Simon on the right. Odion Ighalo will lead the attack of the team just like he has done in previous games of the tournament.

In practice, it’s the same team that defeated Guinea 1-0 that the coach has summoned for the game against Cameroon ‎ but this time around they will play in the 4-3-3 formation and not 4-2-3-1.
