Henry Onyekuru is yet to get a game for the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt and that has brought about lot of talks judging by how well he performed last season for Galatasaray.
Onyekuru scored 15 league goals to fire the team he spent last season on loan from Everton but he has not been given the chance to show same form for the Super Eagles at the Cup of Nations.
Coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr revealed that the forward was due to play some part in the 0-2 loss to Madagascar but he decided against introducing him when Madagascar went two goals up.
The coach further explained that players like Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze and Odion Ighalo are ahead of the Everton forward and advised him to keep pushing hard in training before he will be given a chance to play at the tournament.
“Onyekuru and Osimhen are young and they are here to learn. Musa and Ighalo are experienced so they are the ones to start. For Onyekuru, he has to first fight with Simon and Chukwueze for a position and then maybe for the central position. For Osimhen, he has to be stronger. In training, any touch he falls down. So I tell him to be strong”, he explained.
