Villarreal of Spain wing forward Samuel Chukwueze picked up the man of the match award after scoring one of the goals that helped Nigeria beat South Africa 2-1 to progress to the semi-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Chukwueze scored Nigeria’s first goal in the 27th minute by converting a cross from Ahmed Musa at the second attempt after seeing his initial shot blocked in what was his second start of the tournament.
After the game he was picked as the man of the match and handed the award bringing to four the number of Nigerians who have won the award in this tournament from the five games the team has played so far.
Wilfred Ndidi won the award in the 1-0 win over Burundi while Kenneth Omeruo took home the honour against Guinea but watched on as Odion Ighalo secured the award after scoring a brace in the 3-2 win over Cameroon.
