The vice captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Ahmed Musa who is yet to score a goal at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt has taken out time to explain the reason behind the drought.

Musa has failed to score in the five games the team has played so far with his only contribution to goal coming by virtue of his chest pass to Odion Ighalo for Nigeria’s second goal in the 3-2 win over Cameroon in the round of 16.

Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com ahead of today’s semi final game against Algeria, the Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward who has scored in every senior international tournament he has played for Nigeria says his goal drought at the tournament will end soon.

Explaining the reason behind it, he said he has more defensive responsibilities in the team now than in previous tournaments and these days his role in the team is to deliver box into the box other than cut in and shoot like in previous tournaments.

” As a professional you have to play to the instruction of the coach as it is usually the best for the team as a whole. I defend more in this set up and when the ball is with me the instruction is to play it quickly into the box for the other players who are facing goal’, Musa explained.

” Hopefully the goal will come for me against Algeria but it’s not something I will say is giving me concerns because as long as I keep playing to the instruction of the coaches and we are winning then I don’t think it’s a problem “.
