The Super Eagles of Nigeria trained on penalty kicks during their last training session ahead of their semi-final clash against Algeria later today at the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Coach Gernot Rohr made the players to take spot kicks in training, same routine they did before the games against Cameroon and South ‎Africa in the knock out phase even though the game didn’t drag into the lottery of taking kicks from the spots.

Rohr watched on as the 22 fit players practice their kicks in training against the three goalkeepers of the team in Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho. Shehu Abdullahi who trained alone was the only player who didn’t take part in the shoot out.

During the session, Akpeyi made more saves than any of the goalkeepers with Ezenwa closely behind him even though most of the players converted their kicks confidently.

For now Akpeyi will continue in goal as first choice and if the game drags into penalty kicks, Rohr won’t bother much about his ability to stop spot kicks as he showed great composure in training also game situation is a lot different.
