22 year old Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem favours a move to Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir despite strong interest from French Ligue 1 side Nantes where he played on loan two seasons ago.

Last season he caught the eyes with a strong showing for Turkish side Caykur Rizespor where he spent six months on loan and played 16 games as they move from battling relegation to narrowly missing out on a spot to play in Europe.

Awaziem followed up his showing with another near perfect performance for Nigeria at the recently concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where he excelled despite playing out of position as a right back following the injury to Shehu Abdullahi.

Istanbul Basaksehir are keen on buying him permanently from FC Porto for €7m but the Portuguese side want €10m for the defender with several add ons and a future sell on percentage, which Nantes are willing to match but the player want to continue playing in Turkey.

The Turkish side also offered him better personal terms and even though he won’t mind a return to Nantes, he is for now keen on teaming up with Istanbul Basaksehir who are in talks with Porto over a deal.
