French Ligue 1 side Nice will in the coming days announce the signing of Nigeria U23 forward Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Liverpool, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Awoniyi is still with the U23s of Liverpool training after a successful second half of the season where he scored 13 goals for modest League side Mouscron, the club he moved to after struggling to break into the team of Gent in the first half of the season.
Still not eligible for a work permit, the Nigeria U23 forward was courted by Russian side Spartak Moscow but Liverpool want him to continue his education in France where Nice are keen on having him for next season.
It is believed that the French side are pushing to have the option to sign him permanently after the loan deal but that has been turned down by Liverpool who are still keen on the forward spending time on loan.
Things are expected to hot up next week and from all indication he might have his medical next week before his unveiling but it’s all subject to agreeing personal terms and also the perfect loan deal for the clubs involved in his transfer.
