Contrary to several reports Arsenal Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali is yet to agree a move to Spanish second division side Huesca, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The move to the recently relegated Spanish second division side was proposed by Arsenal who are keen to offload the 21 year old following his failure to impress while on loan to the B team of Portuguese side FC Porto.
Arsenal agreed a deal for him to join the Portuguese side if he impresses them while on loan but he struggled to tie down a regular shirt at the club before visa issues brought his season to a premature end as he couldn’t travel back to Portugal after representing Nigeria U23 in an Olympic qualifier.
Details of the proposed move to Huesca made available to this portal has it that Arsenal want him off their books as part of the summer clear out the club is doing at the moment, hence they are willing to let him leave for free.
However they have inserted a sell on clause in the deal that will see them make 40% of any amount he is sold for in the future as Arsenal are still hopeful of recouping part of the £3m they paid to sign him from Diamond Academy after his expoit for Nigeria at the U17 World Youth Championship in 2015, where he was voted the player of the tournament.
Nwakali’s camp are yet to accept the proposal particularly as the wage on offer won’t be anything close to what he is presently earning at Arsenal and it is believe that his camp are open to the idea of him moving to a team in Holland, Belgium or France where couple of teams have contacted his team.
