Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun might have played his last game for the senior national team of Nigeria barring a late minute change of mine by coach Gernot Rohr, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Balogun lost his spot in the starting lineup to Kenneth Omeruo and although he started two games at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations, he was a late substitute in the knockout round of games.

He was benched all through in the 3rd place game and according to reports exclusively gathered by this portal his relationship with the coach of the team Rohr has deteriorated badly and it could cost him future invitation to the team.

Rohr plan to keep faith with the duo of Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong in central defence with Chidozie Awaziem as back up alongside Semi Ajayi.

Newly signed Galatasaray of Turkey defender Valentine Ozornwafor will understudy the other senior players in the team as he has viewed by Rohr as a strong member for the future of the team.

Also the coach want a young defender who will gain valuable experience before making the step up to the team like he did successfully with Chidozie Awaziem who was one of the standout players for Nigeria at the 2019 AFCON.
