Coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun has handed the captain armband to Plateau United forward Ibrahim Abubakar ahead of their engagement at the All Africa Games in Morocco, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Ibrahim popularly called Babawo was a dropped from the squad for the U20 World Youth Championship after a dip in form, no thanks to few game time with his Nigeria Professional Football League side Plateau United.

In the absence of regular captain Ikouwem Udoh, who is presently a player of Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, Babawo will captain the team with Wasiu Alalade as his deputy, Owngoalnigeria.com gathered from team sources.

Rated as the closest thing to Ahmed Musa by Ahmed Ibrahim aka coach Bros, the coach who discovered and groomed Musa, Babawo have been handed another chance to prove his credentials at the tournament.

So far he has shown his ability to play as a right winger and also as a full back or wingback and in training ahead of the tournament he has filled in at both roles pending on the instruction of the coach.
