Kenneth Omeruo will in the coming days put pen to pen on a four year deal with Leganes after the Laliga side agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign him permanently for a fee close to £5m.
Omeruo spent last season on loan to Leganes with the club given the option to sign him permanently after the end of his loan spell for a fee rumoured to be around £6m.
The timing attached to paying the agreed fee for his signing elapsed without the club triggering the option but they still maintained negotiations with Chelsea and a deal thought to be around £5m was agreed between both clubs.
Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf slapped in a bid to sign the Nigeria international and held talks with Chelsea but Omeruo’s preference to stay in Spain played nicely into the hands of Leganes who are also keen on keeping him.
He is expected to have his medicals within this week before he will be unveiled to bring an end to his contract with Chelsea, the club he signed for in 2013 but fail to play a single minute of first team football as he was loaned out severally.
