The name on the lips of followers of the league in Belgium is that of Nigeria U23 forward David Okereke who has taken the league by storm following his transfer to Club Brugge from second division Italian side Spezia.

Okereke took his goal count for the season to four in three games with the first goal in their 2-0 win away to Oostende minutes after he was introduced as a substitute.

The scorer of ten goals with 12 assists for Spezia last season in the Serie B has credited his goal form to the hard work he put in making the step up from the Serie C to the top division in Belgium in two years.

” I really want to thank God almighty for the grace and gift of scoring goals. Personally my decision to go on loan to Serie C side Girone helped me build my confidence as I had a regular run of games as opposed to when I was at Spezia. I didn’t score that much but it developed me mentally “, Okereke told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Last season I was playing with confidence and now in Belgium I still feel I’m not there yet but it’s a case of so far, so good for me and I pray to continue in this form to help my team achieve their aim at the end of the season “.
