The loan move made by Super Eagles forward Moses Simon to Ligue 1 side Nantes came as a surprise to many considering the fact that he only joined Levante last season from Belgium side Gent.
Simon who was a regular for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations completed the loan move last week upon his return from an extended break granted to him by Levante due to his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal the real reason why the 24 year old accepted the proposal to play on loan at Nantes despite the fact that he is still very much in the plans of Levante.
We gathered that Simon who was mainly played as a right wingback wasn’t too happy with the role but had to do it for the sake of the team who were then struggling to stay in the Spanish top flight.
He played the role with all he has but deep down he felt worried as it limited his chances of scoring goals, something he enjoyed doing while at Trencin in Slovakia and later Gent of Belgium.
At Nantes he will play in his favourite role as a wing forward and not as a wingback because the team play a style different from the system at Levante. Already he has been handed the left side of attack where he love to play more.
Barring any unseen problem he will be fit to make his debut this weekend for Nantes as he has build up fitness and also his international transfer certificate (ITC) has also arrived for him to play in Ligue 1.
