The invitation of Rangers of Scotland star midfielder Joe Aribo could mean a new role for Stoke City midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo in the senior national team of Nigeria, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Aribo was called up for the first time by coach Gernot Rohr for the Super Eagles upcoming friendly game against Ukraine following his fine form for Scottish side Rangers in the Europa League and also in the Scottish Premier League ( SPL) .
A central midfielder who love to go forward and score goals as seen in his goal return for Rangers where he has four goals in eight games since he joined on a free transfer from Charlton this summer.
His invitation will afford the coach the liberty to play Etebo behind the main striker while Alex Iwobi might be moved to the wings if Aribo gels with the team as expected according to a source close to the coach.
Rohr is delighted with the physical presence of the midfielder who will also bring balance to the team as he is left footed and will compliment the efforts of Ndidi in aerial duels, one area where they are short following the international retirement of team captain John Obi Mikel.
