One name that stood out in the list of players called up to the Nigeria U17 team ahead of the 2019 World Youth Championship in Brazil is that of highly rated 16 year old forward Goteh Ntignee.

His name was included by coach of the team Manu Garba among the forwards as he bid to add more firepower to his strike force which didn’t deliver as expected at the recently concluded U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Described as extremely quick with a great work rate which he compliments with really good natural instincts. In the games he has played he has shown he can be a constant threat if given time and space on the ball.

Goteh recently joined USL League Two side Highlanders after a storming season in the Vancouver Island Soccer League Division 1, where he scored 10 goals and also got to the final round for the Ivy Lucas Trophy awarded to the Rookie of the Year in VISL Div 1.

He boast of an impressive record at just the age of 16 as he has already won individual and team titles which earned him a spot in the Canadian National Program as he took part in the U15 National ID Camp in 2017 and also played in the U-15 National showcase as part of Canada U15 select team.

In Canada, the news of his call up to the U17 team of Nigeria hasn’t gone down well with followers of youth football in the country as he is viewed as one for the future of the senior national team. Despite his obvious quality he still have to prove to the coaches of the U17 team of Nigeria that he is better than the players they currently have in attack.
