Nigeria have finally won the race for the international future of former England youth international Josh Maja following his invitation to the Super Eagles team for the friendly game against Ukraine.

Rohr had a dinner with the 20 year old alongside Samuel Kalu and the forward who has one goal to his name this season in the Ligue 1 agreed to the suggestion of teaming up with the Super Eagles for the tie against Ukraine.

Maja will not be needing an international switch as he didn’t play in any competitive game for England at youth level, a situation which Rohr says make his inclusion a very big possibility as he has been monitoring the forward since his move to Bordeaux in January.

” I had lunch with Kalu and Maja, now we have two Nigerians in Bordeaux and Maja can play for Nigeria. I already spoke with him about picking him and it came out positive because he did not play for England in a competitive game at U20. He can play in our next friendly that is possible because he didn’t play for England at U20, which is the case for many others that I’m looking at”, Rohr said.

” For Maja it’s very easy for me to select him. I have lot of attackers but it’s not impossible for me to invite him. We are going to play a match in Ukraine and I was today it’s late to get visa fro players who do not have European passports. But Maja has because he is English, so he could eventually join us. It is possible for me to call him for the game against Ukraine. It is possible “, the coach concluded.
