Europa League Qualifiers – Leke James’s Goal Insufficient For Molde, Sadiq Umar Stars, Bonke Shines

Norwegian side Molde have crashed out of the UEFA Europa League following their 1-1 draw against Serbia side Partizan Beograd which means a 3-2 aggregate which favours the Serbians.

Nigerian forward Leke James scored his second goal of the qualifiers in the 72nd minute to put Molde ahead but a goal ten minutes from time by the visitors level things up and also ended the run of Molde in the Europa League.

Former Nigeria U23 goal king Sadiq Umar started for Partizan Beograd and lasted 68 minutes in what was his third straight appearance for the team in the Europa League qualifiers following his loan move from AS Roma in the summer.

Innocent Bonke showed his importance to Malmo as he lasted the entire duration for the Swedish side in their 1-0 win over Israeli outfit Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv and progress to the next round with an aggregate score of 4-0.

Meanwhile the duo of John Obi Mikel and Anthony Nwakaeme suffered disappointments in the qualifiers as Trabzonspor crashed were beating at home by AEK Athens 0-2 but still progress on the away goal rule after winning the first leg away 3-1.

Mikel was substituted after 35 minute of play while Nwakaeme was on for the entire duration of the game, the third Nigerian at the club Ogenyi Onazi is yet to regain full match fitness following his recovery from the injury that made him miss the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
